The first of Dave's 2yo youngsters, purchased from last year's Magic Millions sales debuted on Wednesday 8th January at Eagle Farm.

Gold Buttons jumped from a wide alley in the 1000 metre race with the intention of leading. She was not quite able to cross to the fence with another opting to keep her wide.

By the time Gold Buttons put paid to that one she was left a sitting shot and the short priced favourite gunned her down in the last stride.

Dave was very happy with her effort and believes if she would have drawn an alley or could have had some peace in front at any stage she would have won. He has also indicated that with experience she will be very competitive up to 1200 metres into the future.

This speedy Mossman filly was purchased at last year's Magic Millions by Santo Guagliardo and was one of the yearlings from Gerry Hervey's draft.
