Raceday Recap - Campionessa

Apr 02, 2014

In the Fillies and Mares Class 3 Handicap over 1030m, Campionessa owned by Murray Gain, was sent out around Doomben at long odds. Upon jumpingCampionessa was hunted up by jockey Tegan Harrison to sit 3rd one off the fence. Approaching the turn, Tegan elected to stay on the inside with everyone else shifting wider resulting in Campionessa hitting the front at the 350 metre mark. Campionessa tried extremely hard in the straight, only feeling the pinch with 50 metres to go to run a gallant 4th.

It was an extraordinary run as the eventual winner of the race had run in Group company down in Melbourne and Sydney. To finish within 2 lengths of this horse was a massive effort and things are looking positive heading forwardnext start.
