Gold Buttons fly's at Ipswich

Mar 18, 2015

Murphy Racing head to Ipswich on Friday with one runner, the in form Gold Buttons. A few heads were turned when David called on the services of veteran hoop making his comeback to race riding, Nathan Day. However, he rode a perfectly timed race.

Racing in a 0-65 handicap, Buttons was well fancied by punters and she made hard work of it. Normally a flyer out of the gates, Nathan 'Grubby' Day had to take a sit racing third behind the leader. Rounding the home turn, Grubby peeled out and narrowly nutted out the leader on the line. This shows buttons is a very nice filly with her versatility to race anywhere in running.

Coming out of this race was an astonishing time where Buttons ran home her last 600 metres in an astonishing 31.98.

This gives Buttons her third career win from 14 starts and taking her career prizemoney to just under $40,000. Well done to owner Santo Guagliardo and leasee Michael Hocking.
