The 'hill' no trouble for Shotacross The Bow

Jun 01, 2015

On Saturday night 30th May, Murphy Racing went up the hill to Toowoomba Turf Club with both of Murray Gains runners Campionessa and Shotacross The Bow.

The night didnt start as planned as Campionessa having a few things go wrong in running. This left Shotacross The Bow he task of picking up the pieces.

David again called on up and coming apprentice Tay Williams to claim 3kg giving Shotacross The Bow a very light 53kg. Even though in his first prep he ran into some very good 2 year old company the punters didnt want a bar of him blowing out to $14. As they jumped Williams couldnt find a spot for the Rothesay gelding and had to sit 5 deep the entire until the home turn where she pressed forward to outside the leader and kicked away. Being first up and 5 wide, David was a bit concerned that he wouldnt go along with the job, but to his credit he is a very tough horse, and Shotacross the Bow blew them away to win by an astonishing four lengths. In the words of the race caller "my God, Shotacross The Bow has absolutely killed them". A great effort from rider Tay Williams to keep the horse going and thats her 2nd winner from 3 rides for Murphy Racing.

A lot of credit is to go towards David and the team as this horse was millimetres away from losing an eye last preparation and to get him back to the races and build his confidence up was a excellent effort.

Congratulations to owner Murray Gain who has tasted his second winner in two weeks.
